Poetics of space – Appreciation of the form, space and ordering principles that define and determine the character and quality of the built environment. Also, a cohesive understanding of the building elements, the nature of light, relationship between spaces, surfaces, volumes and their role in space making.

How to build – Made up of multiple modules, the course focuses on skills required to be able to actually build.

Curriculum

The curriculum for Bachelor’s degree in Space and Interior Design is designed in such a way that over a course of four years, students will become aware of themselves and their values. They will understand what they consider important in the world and how to let this drive their design education. This gives students the freedom to choose what kind of space and interior designer they want to become as they evolve.

The villaging modules are intentionally the same for all the programmes to ensure development of the self and the village community.

With a support system of relevant people who assist the villagers at every junction, each villager charters their own personal learning path which is custom made for them with a great mix and match of experiences, projects and tools.

The Bachelor in Space and Interior Design is an undergraduate programme in which students gain in-depth knowledge and perspective of the field Space and Interior Design. This programme trains students to think and act cohesively to be able to extend their design skills to interior spaces, exhibitions, pavilions, art installations and many more. The Space and Interior Designing Course at TDV helps to understand making, marketing, manufacturing and communication of a space in context with factors affecting the world like sustainability, big data and much more.

The admission process at TDV involves the following steps -

  • Step 1 : Statement of Purpose to be submitted alongwith the application form.
  • Step 2 : Writing, sketching and model making exercise
  • Step 3 : Portfolio of creative work and explorations
  • Step 4 : A personal interview with a panel of Jurors.

An end to end, integrated understanding of Space and Interior Design -

  • This programme trains students to think and act cohesively to be able to extend their design skills to interior spaces, exhibitions, pavilions, art installations and many more.
  • Poetics of space – Appreciation of the form, space and ordering principles that define and determine the character and quality of the built environment. Also, a cohesive understanding of the building elements, the nature of light, relationship between spaces, surfaces, volumes and their role in space making. How to build – Made up of multiple modules, the course focuses on skills required to be able to actually build.
  • Understanding materials and their properties, construction techniques, detail design and making execution drawings fall within this domain.

The curriculum of The Design Village questions the stereotypical definitions of space and interior and its education of being taught in isolation. It offers the programme in context with other design fields and events/changes occurring in the world through offering innovative electives shared with other design fields. This opens up new ways of looking at a space.

Students who choose to pursue a Bachelor Course in Space and Interior Designing receive a recognized Bachelor of Design degree. The course fee is INR 24,00,000 for four years and includes the tuition fee for an international semester. Other than this students one time fee for Registration, Security and Summer school security are applicable. Upto 100% Scholarships and funding options are available.

The course duration is 4 years.

We have seen that fresh graduates can expect a starting salary range of INR 35,000 - 60,000 per month, depending on the brand and the opportunity. Mid level professionals (5 yrs -10 years) are likely to be in the salary range INR 60,000 - INR 100,000. Professionals over 10 years of experience can command salaries upto INR 150,000 - 200,000.
