Looking afresh – at the world
aim: to sensitise students on space utilization and communication.
an introduction on how we are surrounded by ‘ design ‘. It helps the viewer understand that we exist in a world where design governs our daily lives, space being one of them.
With a series of self explanatory visuals, the presentation emphasizes that ‘space’ is enclosed with a purpose, be it for residential or office functions. But space also has other purposes where communication takes place. These are specific to exhibitions and set design. where the viewer is the audience, not necessarily the participant.
Who determines the translation of these spaces into a form of communication. It is the Designer. The shell or the building is developed by an Architect along with engineers, but thereafter the Designer ensures the transformation of the space into a functional habitat, based on a predetermined need. This process of design needs training, an education that revolves around ‘ problem solving ‘. The methodology for this is not, and cannot be textual. It is developed through sensitising the student. Looking afresh – at the world again.
